Chapter 1
Lyric hated waiting for John. He knew she had to be at work at this time and yet he always managed to find other things to do. She sat outside. It was a beautiful day in the hood. Everyone was out and she was the only one not enjoying it. She stood up and looked down the block. John's old raggedy Coup De Ville came rambling up the streets.
"Amen!"
she exclaimed to no one in particular. He pulled up and hopped out.
"I'm sorry. I had some business to tend to."
he explained. She crossed her arms across her chest.
"And what was so important that you forgot all about your promises to your girlfriend?"
she asked. She really wanted to hear the tired ass excuse he was about to use.
"Come on now, Ly. You know I'm trying to get out the hood. And I know you is too so why you got to put this tough girl act?"
he asked. She sighed.
"You know what, John? I'm tired."
she said.
"Don't you think I know that? Why you think I'm trying to come up? So you won't have to work anymore."
he said.
"I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about us."
she said.
"What? What you talking about?"
he asked.
"I'm talking about us seeing other people."
she said.
"Why? I thought what we had was perfect."
he said.
"You thought wrong. I can't keep going on like this. You never pay any attention to me anymore."
she said.
"So what are you saying?"
he asked.
"It's over."
she said, walking back in her house. John was left outside with a dumb look on his face.

Chapter 2
Lyric pressed the button on the cash register, opening the drawer. It was mid shift and she was beyond tired. The customers getting on her nerves and if her manager says one more thing to her crazy, she was going to go off. It was now 3 pm and she was about to go on break. She sat down in the dining area with her lunch. As she opened the wrapper on her burger, a girl approached her from her left.
"Excuse me. i don't mean to disturb you but I really wanted to say how beautiful you are."
the girl said. Lyric shook her head as she bit into her burger.
"Thanks."
she said.
"Do you mind if I sit down here with you?"
the girl asked. Lyric waved her hand over the empty chairs.
"Be my guest."
Lyric replied. She sat down.
"So do a pretty girl have a name?"
she asked again.
"Lyric but everyone calls me Ly."
Lyric said.
"I'm Wanekee better known as Kee Kee."
Wanekee said. Lyric nodded her head.
"Oh."
she said.
"So will it be okay if i got your number?"
Wanekee inquired.
"Sure."
Lyric said, retrieving her phone out her pocket. They exchanged numbers.
"I'll be sure to call you."
Wanekee said, standing up.
"Ok."
Lyric said, hoping she would hurry up and leave so she could enjoyed her break alone.
"Alright. Bye, sexy."
Wanekee said, leaving. Lyric got up and threw away her trash before retreating to the restroom.

Chapter 3
Lyric ran her fingers through her hair. She hated waiting for the bus but right now that was her only transportation. She looked down the street and still did not see the bus. She blew out her breath. Standing on the bus stop with her was an elderly woman and a young woman with 2 small children. She scrolled through her phone, hoping to see someone she could call to come and pick her up. That's why she hated working evenings. The buses run extra slow around that time. Normally she had a ride waiting for her. But today everyone was not answering her phone calls. Just then a all black Cutlass pulled up. It slowed down as the passenger window rolled down. Lyric tried to get a glimpse into the car as she kept an eye out for the bus.
"Aye, shawty."
the driver said to her. She looked confused.
"Who is you?"
she asked.
"Kee Kee. I just met you at your job."
Wanekee replied.
"Oh. Hey."
Lyric said.
"You need a ride?"
Wanekee asked. She noticed Lyric kept looking down the street as if she was waiting for something.
"Umm..."
Lyric said. She really didn't know this girl but she could wait any longer. She had to hurry up and get home.
"Sure,why not?"
Lyric said. She got into the car and Wanekee pulled off in the direction Lyric told her.

Chapter 4
Lyric and Wanekee rode around. Lyric was hoping she would get home in time to see that her little sister got in. Wanekee, on the other hand, was thinking of ways to stall.
"So how old is you?"
Kee Kee inquired. She kept her eyes on the road. Lyric looked over at her.
"21 and you?"
she asked right back at her. Kee Kee snickered.
"I'm 24, lil' mama."
she replied. Lyric nodded her head.
"So are you single or got somebody?"
Kee Kee asked after a minute of silence.
"I'm single now. I actually just broken up with my man a week ago."
Lyric said. Kee Kee smiled. She was ecstatic to hear that.
"Well, you know a man will never be able to do for you like a woman can."
she said, hinting that she really liked her. Lyric gave her a look.
"What was that look for?"
Kee Kee asked.
"No reason. So are you single?"
Lyric asked. She guessed she might as well give her shot. Who knows? She might just be the one.
"Yes, ma'am. My last girl wanted to be a hoe so I had to let her go."
Kee Kee replied.
"Oh."
Lyric said. She noticed that Wanekee had turned on her street but she wasn't ready to leave.
"So what school did you go to?"
Lyric asked.
"Washington High."
Kee Kee said. Lyric's eyes grew big.
"For real? My ex went there. You might have known him. He was the star point guard on the basketball team."
she said. Kee Kee thought for a minute. She remembered him slightly. If her memory served her correctly, she stole quite a few girlfriends from him. She smiled at the thought. Lyric noticed it.
"Yeah, I know him. He couldn't stand my ass for the world of nothing."
she said, chuckling under her breath.
"Why?"
Lyric asked.
"Well, let put it like this: I stole majority of his girlfriends back then."
Kee Kee said. Lyric laughed.
"Wow."
she said. Kee Kee pulled up in front of Lyric's house. But they stayed out there, talking until the wee hours of the morning. Kee Kee realized that she had to be somewhere else and they said their goodbyes.

Chapter 5 For the next 3 weeks, Lyric and Wanekee saw each other as much as possible. They was getting mighty close. Lyric never knew she could have feelings for a girl. But with Wanekee, her being a girl was something that didn't cross her mind. All she knew was that she was starting to fall for her and hard.
Like today. She was in her room, trying on different outfits for her date with Wanekee. They was planning on going to an amusement park. Once she decided, she threw her hair in a beachy bun. She slicked on her lip gloss and put on her yellow Converses.
Just then she heard a horn blow. She looked out the window and it was her boo thang. She held one finger as if to say 'wait a minute'. She grabbed her bag, keys, and cell. She then left.
When she got outside, Wanekee was leaning against her car, talking to somebody about some important business. So Lyric got in the passenger seat and waited. As she waited, she turned on the radio and Aaliyah's Are You That Somebody came blasting out. She knew that Wanekee had been listening to her again and it made her smile. Wanekee got back in. She put the key in the ignition. Then she turned her head to look at Lyric, who was still grinning.
"What are you smiling for?"
She asked as she started the car up.
"Nothing."
Lyric said, putting on her seat belt. They started moving. Lyric was happy that she had met someone like her. She looked over at her and then back straight. She did that for at least 10 more times before Wanekee looked at her.
"What?"
she asked.
"Nothing."
Lyric replied.
"It got to be something. You keep looking at me all weird."
Wanekee said, her eyes still on the road.
"Well, if you must know. I was thinking of how lucky I was to be graced with someone like you."
Lyric said. Wanekee smiled. She was also catching feelings.
"Aww... I feel the same way about you too."
she said. Lyric grinned from ear to ear. They rode in silence.

Chapter 6 When they got to the amusement park, they was like two big kids. They went on all the rides they could get on. Lyric then made a announcement that she wanted a bear. So Wanekee played a few games before she was actually able to win a prize. It wasn't a bear but it was something that Lyric promised she would keep forever.
They walked around the park, arm in arm. People was staring, of course. But they could really give a flying fuck. What they felt for one another was enough for the both of them. Lyric and Wanekee's stomachs both growled at the same time. So they decided to stop for a bite to eat.
Lyric wanted a corndog and some cotton candy. So Wanekee paid for her stuff along with her chili cheese dog and slurpee. They found a table near the popcorn vendor and sat down to began to eat. As they was eating, some dude approached Lyric. He looked like a bum. Lyric turned her nose up at him while Wanekee bit down on her hot dog.
"Hey, sexy lady. Where's your man at?"
he asked. Lyric tsked as she nodded towards Wanekee.
"Sitting right next to me. Any more questions?"
she asked. He looked from her to Wanekee and back to her before he backed away. As he left, he mumbled loudly.
"Crazy dykes."
Lyric and Wanekee laughed. It was pathetic. They enjoyed the rest of their date late until the evening.
